Description The Eleventh Judicial Circuit Criminal Mental Health Project (CMHP) provides Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training to law enforcement agencies throughout Miami-Dade County. To date, 28 law enforcement organizations have participated in the 40-hour training, and more than 1300 officers have been trained. This has been achieved with the collaboration of law enforcement, mental health, consumer and criminal justice stakeholders. In addition to the initial certification training, the CMHP offers a CIT Update, CIT for hostage negotiators, CIT for recruit classes and Communications Personnel Training for police call takers and dispatchers. More than 25 trainings are provided on a yearly basis. Furthermore, additional stakeholder meetings such as the CIT Advisory Committee and Partners in Crisis meetings are held on a quarterly basis.
