Central Florida CIT is consistent with the Memphis model and provides the 40 Hour training course a minimum of 4 times per year. In addition to the training two in-service trainings are offered to CIT officers, a semi annual supervisor’s training, dispatch training, each participating agency has established policies and procedures for the operation of their CIT program, program data is collected for outcomes, several participating law enforcement agencies conduct follow up visits with people they have intervened with, an annual recognition and appreciation event is held and a bi-monthly meeting of the CIT coordinators from each law enforcement agency with the mental health providers and family/consumer representations is held. As needed meetings, email or phone contact for problems/issues that arise between Law Enforcement and providers take place. |
