Description The Pasco-Hernando CIT program is a 40-hour course spread out across one week. Each day of instruction is comprised of mental health and substance abuse topics presented by professionals within that field. One full eight hour day is dedicated to site visits within the community in which law enforcement professionals observe and interact with individuals suffering from mental health and substance abuse disorders. The course is coordinated by a mental health and law enforcement professional in partnership with both the Pasco and Hernando chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). The CIT planning committees meets on a bi-monthly basis to discuss CIT issues and plan for upcoming courses. Pasco-Hernando CIT is provides twice per year, typically in February and October.
