The 1^st National CIT Conference in Columbus, Ohio had an overwhelming attendance and generated interest in a national CIT organization. Funding obtained this year by the University of Memphis CIT Center will provide the groundwork necessary for a national CIT Organization. As part of this grant, a group of individuals who trained early on with the Memphis Model came together to discuss the next steps for CIT. These individuals were also part of programs that have developed into broad-based regional CIT efforts. They all believe that CIT is more than just training and that a job worth doing is worth doing well. This is the beginning of a National CIT Advisory Council. This is an exciting time for CIT as we anticipate a broad national membership, additional technical assistance and consultation, a comprehensive CIT program directory, ties with other national organizations, and an interactive CIT website and newsletter. Please check in with those who helped with the Advisory Council. They are identified by a blue ribbon on their name badge. Be part of this new CIT national organization. A CIT membership form is available with your convention materials and is also available via the web. You can also Click here and follow the instructions to submit the form.
